Kalgan on spell damage and healing gear
WotLK June 9th, 2008MMO-Champion posted this quote today, which comes from UK PC Gamer article about WotLK:
PC Gamer: What else is changing?
Tom Chilton (Kalgan): We’re also going to be doing away with spell-damage only type gear. We’ll be moving to a system that, as part of your talents, will let players convert healing into spell-damage and vice-versa as part of their talents. That way they can use the exact same gear, but their talents just adapt what it does.”
That pretty much confirms the information leaked from alpha some time ago.

So gear will be more universal seeing less items, more drops..
I’m glad and yet sad to hear this. While I like the fact that gearing will be easier and classes will be more universal, I don’t like that this seems to be moving to the BC ’standardizing’ type itemization, where one item is pretty much always better than another.
Back in Vanilla, there were items from old dungeons taht were still good at 60, trinkets like Rune of the Guard Captain or Hand of Justice. Swords like Bonereaver’s Edge of Rag that could take down Ashkandi with its proc. Sure, it’s pretty much bad itemization, but it was cool anyway, I like hidden niches and more options.
Oh well.
