What will S4 5v5 look like?
Arena April 27th, 2008So, we just got 2k in 5v5 with a new setup - Warrior / Retri palla / BM Hunter / Resto Shammy / Disc Priest - with total 62 games (49 - 13, maybe not the best ratio ever, but nothing to laugh at) and I love it. We struggled with lack of a shammy for over a week, as the guy we played with on the begging started slacking (he have his own team with 2100 rating so it’s not really strange he doesn’t want to play two teams at once), but we got a new guy this week and things worked smooth. After our 2346 broke we played 2 warrior team for few weeks with really different classes, we lacked a holy pala tho (Rayla is busy with sunwell progress), we floated around 1900 but that was it.
I’m looking forward to see how far we can push it with this setup, retri pally gives us the extra dispell and bop/bof that a healing pally would have to provide otherwise, while kicking some serious ass, our resto shammy is the purging machine, we don’t really have any reliable (or repeatable) CC, but the raw power is brutal, in few games when we sat down on a priest, he went down so fast that their pally didn’t manage to drop down the bop (or didn’t notice the priest is dying), that’s how scary it is. What’s interesting - it’s not like we play some unique setup, sure I’m not on US-BG9 or something, but the last few teams we fought against were very similar, like Warrior / Rogue / Enh shammy / Holy pala / Priest - we were just going for each other’s priest and watched which one will be still alive after 10 seconds.
With resilience staying the way it is (we will get 25 with new trinket tho) on S4 sets, while crit and damage goes up, I think we might see much more raw-dps teams to show up, who needs CC or drain when you can drop people in 5 seconds.
On a side note, since I’ve re-specced from 33/28 to 35/23/3, spell reflect is nice and all, but so far I’m noticing that on-demand disarm to win us much more games than SR ever did (or loose games when I didn’t use it and our priest died :<), I’m basically switching to a warrior whenever it’s up and someone is dying, those 5 seconds are often enough for MS debuff to wear off allowing our healers to get those one or two full heals up.

Man that would be so nice having 2000 rating. You guys must have Full S3 and Full Vind gear I assume? That’s usually the difference between teams - gear.
Terhix 35/23/3 is a great build as Leh has said in his pervious posts. I tried using it for 2 months or so and loved it. Then I thought to myself, why sacrifice Imp MS and ER? Oh that’s right - because 3 points in enrage, 2 in WM and 1 in SS is much better? Makes sense? Not to me…
I figured, there are only 2 classes that can Disarm, Warriors and Rogue (and most don’t go combat for Riposte). For my 2v2 my Priest is always getting hammered by Warrior’s, not me. Therefore I rarely get disarmed. The 2% Dodge? If they dodge you switch to Battle and Overpower, no biggy.
Sweeping strikes? Never use in 2’s and 3 points in Enrage, well, that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
You have said in your previous posts how good Imp MS really is, it add’s alot of DPS to your arsenal it’s insane. ER I really have much more rage to. Anyway I may not have justified this as well as I can cuz I don’t have time. I just urge people to go against the usual and try this build - 41/17/3. It’s worth it.

I did try 41/17/3 (never been a fan of 41/20), and it definitely works. I use sweeping strikes quite often and getting disarmed often enough to justify weapon mastery, sure it’s only two classes that can disarm, but there is a warrior in 95% arena teams, so that point is kinda fail. 5 second disarm can be game breaking but still gives a window to refresh MS right after, 10 seconds disarm gives you a guaranteed MS removal which can lead to a lost game, and I’m not getting weapon chain over executioner :p.
It can go down to personal preference, 41/17/3 is a pretty cool build, but it’s not balanced - just as badly balanced setup - it can give you an edge in some fights, but break it in others.

Ppl speck full ms, cus they want to do more damage and grather more rage, but its bullshit, if you tak 32/29 (4 in flurry one in second) with sword speck, it deals alot of more damage and grather really great rage, you have weapon mastery and sweeping strike, though you miss tact, but its not that needed in 5vs. 2vs and 3vs I think 33/23/3 is best

The point of 41/17/3 is to have boosted dps AND TM, where 33/28 give you boosted dps but at the cost of TM. About TM being not needed in 5s, I’ve different feelings atm.

I’m currently 41/20, and I love the extra rage / MS damage, but I miss TM.. Alot. The inta-disarm and insta-reflect are just sooo nice.
WM can mostly be solved with a macro as long as you’re paying attention, switch to a 1H with a weapon chain when you hear the warr hit defensive. Doesn’t help against riposte… But it’s shorter anyways. I never used SS myself, and though I miss Imp Slam, it’s not that big a deal with all the extra rage i’m getting.
I’m thinking about switching back to 41/17/3 to see if the 3 points in enrage really make a difference as opposed to the versatility and convenience of TM.
I used to be 44/14/3, but I felt like I wasn’t hitting hard enough. Maybe that was just my gear.. We’ll see.

I think if your going to get 41 points in Arms, it is definetley worth getting TM. Your going to have so much extra rage, why not be able to save 20 rage when you switch stances? It makes the difference.
It comes down to personal preference. Disarm’s can be nasty but most of the time they are not on me to do it. But everyone has different experiences
