2.1.0 Speculations
Abilities, PvP, Talents April 12th, 2007Wow, there can’t be a singe patch out there without some jerks writing fake patch notes it seems. 2.1.0 is a really rich when it comes down to those, however it’s good to take a look at some supposed to be leaked notes. Let’s start with the most ridiculous ones (source: worldofming.com), I’ll just point out the heaviest, let’s call them - suggestions - or just the ones regarding our class:
(…)
- The damage reduction part of resilience has been changed to include normal attacks.
(…)
Hunter
- Frost Trap duration decreased to 15 seconds, cooldown increased to 1 minute.Paladin
- Divine Shield cooldown increased to 1 Hour.
- Lay on Hands cooldown reduced to 5 Minutes.Rogue
(…)
- The maximum amount of healing reduction from Wound Poison is now 25%. In addition it is changed to stack with Mortal Strike.Warrior
- Mortal Strike healing reduction reduced to 25% and now stacks with Wound Poison.Items
- Hybrids and healing classes can now choose from a wide range of healing weapons.
- Arena point cost for two-handed ranged weapons has been decreased by 25%.
- All Gladiator armor have had its resilience increased by 50%.
Ok, no way on earth Blizzard can introduce so many so heavy changes with one patch, that’s something I’ll never believe in. However, despite how ridiculous those changes are in their weight, I like them, a lot. Simple changes that fixes most issues 5v5 arena might have. I can imagine the uproar on the paladin forums if their DS get’s touched, remember mass dispell fuzz? Right, however the fact is, we are not going into 5v5 without a pally, it’s just not worth it. We have one paladin in a team and he can play 2 days a week (raiding during the rest of the week), while the every other member is available every day, so we are pretty much crippled simply because we play horde and there are just no free good pvp holydins out there, putting a Pally on par with other support classes would really fix a lot, we then could just get a resto shammy or druid and be happy. MS/Wound Poison change is also ok, I do agree that warriors are also pretty much the MVP of 5v5 arena, and that change would tone down our strongest-debuff-in-the-game effect, while making rogues more desired for the arenas.
If you are browsing forums from time to time, you have probably seen these. All I can say is - ouch, and double ouch because, despite those being ‘paraphrased’, they seems most real from all that was out. I’m still keeping distance to them, as 95% of “leaked” patch notes are later found to be simply fake, but there is still that 5% out there, f.e. leaked patch notes with enrage 40->25% nerf long time ago were actually real :(.
-Flurry has had atk spd increases reduced to 5/10/15/20/25% from 10/15/20/25/30
-Death Wish and Enrage no longer stack
What makes me think this might be real, is because i remember Blizzard posters saying how TM in protection open ways for pvp warriors to reach last stand. Blizzard wanted some variety as on lvl 60 pre 2.0.1 there was only one warrior pvp build out there, now it has changed, but it’s all between 35/23/3 - 31/30. Pretty much no one gives a shit about Endless Rage and pretty much no one gives a shit about offspecing protection for PvP. The simplest solution would be to make protection more offspec friendly, atm if I wanted to reach concussion blow I have to get 21p in protection. After spending 11 points in TM/Bloodrage/Toughness and Last Stand, the PvP usefullness of talents I can pick ranked from 0 to 100 is:
- Shield Specialization: 2.
- Anticipation: 5.
- Improved Shield Block: 10 (would be 15 if it didn’t require shield spec).
- Improved Revenge: 15.
- Defiance: 0.
- Improved Sunder Armor: 3.
- Improved Disarm: 8.
- Improved Taunt: 1 for the pretty red dashes above someone’s head.
In other words, concussion blow is like a 10 point talent with 9 first points having 0 effect, AWESOME! Now imagine someone at Blizzard HQ sitting on a meeting:
- Hey, we put TM in protection, but no PvP warriors go above 3 points in protection anyway. I don’t get it, there are 3 trees, why only 2 are considered good for PvP, and that’s only with having a 31pointer from Arms?
- Maybe fury is overpowered?!
- Ok, do something about it, my warlock got a raid in 15 minutes. (yea, I know warlock jokes are not so up to date)
Possible? After playing WoW for 2 years I can say - yes. Besides, that flurry change would hit 33/28 harder then anything else, I’m 33/28 now, so Murphy’s law would apply perfectly here.
-Commanding Shout now increases your max health but your health stays a constant percentage
A fix to a broken and exploited mechanic, everyone is talking about it these days, so there can’t be fake notes without it. What makes me believe it’s all fake is the lack of Intercept change that was announced quite some time ago, but honestly - I’m not sure. Giev real patch noetz!
