Intercept breaking snares? Maybe 2.1…
Abilities, PvE, PvP March 30th, 2007So, we were promised to have Charge/Intercept/Intervene breaking snares (for all the idiots out there - frost nova is NOT a snare, snares are slowing effects ONLY), this was supposed to be in already, but…
The published version on the website will be accurate. However, the notes pushed out that will appear on completion of downloading will have an inclusion that did not make it into this patch.
“Charge”, “Intercept”, and “Intervene” now remove all snaring effects.
The technology for this has not been completed, so we are holding off implementation to a future patch. We are still working to get this functionality into the game, but simply couldn’t finish it for this patch’s cut off date.
…Tseric explained why it didn’t make it into the game. Now that we got new PTR patch notes online for quite some time, it doesn’t say a squat about snare breaking. Will we ever get rid of Intercept bug?

iirc a blue did say that the intercept breaking snare feature will be implemented in a future “content” patch. And the 2.0.12 patch is just a minor bug fix patch.

I read blue tracker daily, and it does ring the bell about content patch, can’t find it anywhere tho.
Anyway, they also said mages they will get invisibility re-implemented during WoW beta, and they did… in TBC.

it’s already bad enough that we get root/snared to hell but when we finally break loose and try to intercept our target only to see ourselves launched in the completely opposite direction of our target….thats just retarded.

I cant remember the source, but I *think* the intended change is not to completely remove snares, but rather, remove them during charge and intercept.
So, if you are wing clipped and you intercept, wingclip is temp removed during your intercept (so you intercept at full speed), but once your intercept is over, the wing clip effect still applies.
Without going into whether or not this is the right fix, it makes sense from what we have heard. The functionality to drop certain types of debuffs is already in the game and would be very easy to impliment (gnome racial), while the ability to “suspend” an effect, while another effect is in place does not currently exist.
That would explain the Blues comment that the fix would require new technology. Take this for what it is worth…

Well, the original patch notes worded it pretty clear:
“Charge”, “Intercept”, and “Intervene” now remove all snaring effects.
But yes, what you say does indeed make sense, I’ll gladly welcome any change that will fix the damn intercept, and as a matter of a fact, I don’t really think we need any “buffs” other then bug fixes at this state of the game.

I’m pretty sure this feature is one of the things that could delay the 2.1 patch. They already announced the next patch, wich is mostly dungeon adjustments. They wouldn’t dare to release 2.1 without this implementation.
